Alison Etter Guzardo, MM, MT-BC, earned a Bachelor's in Music Therapy from Southern Methodist University and completed her clinical internship at San Antonio State Hospital. She earned a Master's in Music Therapy from Colorado State University. Alison has been a Board-Certified Music Therapist since 2011. She has worked at Kerrville State Hospital since 2012 and has also worked as an adjunct instructor at Schreiner University. In 2014 she received the Harmony award for Clinical Practice from the Southwestern region of the American Music Therapy Association (SWAMTA). She currently serves the SWAMTA board as the website administrator and previously served on the technology committee for 8 years.
She enjoys traveling to conferences inside and outside of the United States to share about her work and reduce the stigma associated with individuals receiving forensic care. Her work on collaborative arts interventions for the forensic population has been shared at international conferences and published in book chapters and journal articles.
