Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health: 
Barbara Lepke-Sims is a professional harpist in Denver, CO, since graduating in 1978 from The Juilliard School with her Master in Music in harp, studying with the world renown Susann McDonald. Barbara has played for many of the professional performing arts groups in Denver as well as many dignitaries, including President Nixon, Gerald Ford, George H. Bush, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. She is also an Affiliate Faculty member of applied harp at Colorado Christian University and Regis University. In 2017, Barbara received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Harp Society for her 30 plus years of volunteer service to them. She is currently on the Executive Committee of the USA International Harp Competition. (https://usaihc.org )

In 2009 she expanded her interests and became a Certified Music Practitioner, (CMP) through a national training program (www.mhtp.org) . Barbara has played the harp one-on-one by the bedside at Children’s Hospital Colorado since then, focusing on patients in ICU units. In 2012 Barbara started playing for another healthcare system in Denver as well. In 2017, she became their Healing Arts Program coordinator managing all the therapeutic musicians and overseeing their visual arts program. Networking best practices and research for playing therapeutic music in healthcare settings as a Certified Music Practitioner working with MT-BC as well as best practices with managing a Healing Arts program in a healthcare system.
