Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health: 
Betsey King, PhD, MT-BC has been a board-certified music therapist since 1984. She spent sixteen years in full-time clinical practice, working primarily with children and in neurological rehabilitation (as well as with elders, women w/metastatic breast cancer, inmates, and others) before becoming the director of the music therapy degree program at Southern Methodist University. Her PhD at the University of Kansas focused on music therapy in adult speech-language recovery and she has continued that work at Nazareth College in Rochester NY where a unique interprofessional collaboration with speech-language pathologists has resulted in a new approach to co-treatment. She also writes and consults on small-group assessment-based music therapy for persons with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
