Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
B.S. Brain and Cognitive Sciences, minors in Music and Linguistics from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY
Current M.Sc. student in Neuroscience under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Grahn at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada
My master's thesis explores how emotion mediates the relationship between music and autobiographical memory in healthy older adults and older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
My interest in music and health began during my junior year of high school when I tried doing some research on music therapy's use for Alzheimer's treatment for a class presentation. The dearth of research in this area and the inconsistencies within what did exist sparked my passion for pursuing the intersection of music and health during my higher education journey. I considered music therapy (and still sort of am), but I decided to pursue/prioritize the research aspect of this field for the time being.
Collaboration Interests:
Primarily anyone who works in Music Therapy as a certified therapist or on research projects with direct applications to music therapy. However, I am endlessly fascinated by the entire field of Music Cognition, so any collaborations or opportunities to get more involved in this discipline are much appreciated.
