Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
Thirty years ago a nurse executive, an acquaintance, opened up an opportunity for me to work at IPRO, the Peer Review Organization for the state of NY. This entry level position resulted in an amazing 20 year career in the healthcare industry. The focus of each of my 3 positions was Quality of Care. I met 1000's of nurses.
My career came to an end 10 years ago when the National League for Nursing (NLN) re-organized and relocated from NYC to Washington, D.C., without including my Operations Manager position.
I was turning 60 by that time. My husband and I knew we weren't going to be working for employers any more. We were starting our "Senior Years" and we wanted to spend our time doing something worthwhile and productive. We decided to create a website. We created www.NurseMotherCaregiver.com a labor of love all about "quality care";
nursing care, family caregiving, homecare, home healthcare, hospice care, etc.
Five years later, we created our 2nd site www.AccreditedHomeHealthcare.Directory
AHHD exists to connect those who need quality home healthcare with accredited vendors who provide it, while also providing education on the value of accreditation and support via resources, links, and the additional nursemothercaregiver.com site.
Our websites help Seniors, in particular, to find quality care, accredited homecare, home healthcare and hospice at home care near them. We honor nurses and caregivers and we publish articles helpful to families living with Seniors, or doing research to help these families.
Many families that require assistance have a family member or loved one living with Alzheimer's, dementia, memory loss. Quality of care is always important, however, for these special folks they require special care and they also require music in their lives... in fact nostalgic tunes from their past help them more than drugs.
Personally, music has played a major part throughout my life, including our marriage of 52 years. Professionally, we understand the importance of music in healing. Music and good health go together.
I recently learned about a Senior Day Care organization that offers what they refer to as Reminiscence Therapy. I'm looking forward to promoting that business on our site.

Collaboration Interests:
I'm looking forward to meeting Julene Johnson. I recently contacted her through LinkedIn and she suggested I create this profile to make it easier for us to communicate.
I look forward to collaborating with Julene and the other amazing folks at the Sound Health Network. The National Institutes of Health, the Kennedy Center and opera star Renee Fleming were all mentioned in her "Q&A" article on page 32 of the AARP Bulletin January/February 2024 issue.
