Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
My focus is on mental health, having worked over the past five years in dual diagnosis mental health and substance use disorders at residential, partial hospitalization, and intension outpatient levels. I hold a Bachelor Equivalency degree in music therapy, maintaining the Music Therapist Board Certified qualification; and a Master of Arts degree in psychology. I am a trained Stephen Minister, having offered caring, compassionate listening to four care receivers. In February 2020, I completed the Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certification, and am continuing somatic work in NeuroAffective Touch with Dr. Aline La Pierre. I work with individuals and groups, and until the pandemic changed everything, was a twice yearly guest lecturer on the integration of creative arts and psychology at a local university.

I embrace a trauma-focused, safety-informed, eclectic approach, including autonomic nervous system regulation through HeartMath® and Somatic Experiencing®; deeper mind re-education through Accelerated Resolution Therapy® and Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music; and behavioral support through music-facilitated Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Much of my work relies on the creative arts – visual art, movement, music, metaphor – to provide insight into underlying distress and to allow for re-creation and re-integration of the whole self: body, heart, mind, and spirit.
Collaboration Interests:
Autonomic and central nervous system impacts of music-facilitated applications of psychotherapeutic healing modalities, e.g., DBT, ACT, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, HeartMath.
