Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health: 
Debbie Bates, PhD, MT-BC, wears multiple hats: clinician, manager, researcher, and educator. She is the Music Therapy Manager for Arts and Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic and provides music therapy services to patients and families in the Taussig Cancer Institute, with a focus on adults undergoing Blood and Marrow Transplant. Prior clinical experiences include work with adults in hospice and palliative medicine, with premature infants, hospitalized children with a focus in pediatric palliative care, and adolescent and adult patients with mental health needs. She received her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from the University of Dayton and her Masters and PhD in Music Therapy from Temple University. She is an adjunct music therapy professor at St. Mary of the Woods College (IN) and Augsburg University (MN).

Interests in music and health include how music therapy impacts the experiences of hospitalized adult and pediatric patients.
