Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
I am a board certified music therapist with additional training in neurologic music therapy. I run a private practice in Northern California - Haley Music Therapy (HMT). HMT provides music therapy for individuals with developmental disabilities; adults/seniors with Alzheimer's/Dementia; neurologic rehabilitation (persons with traumatic brain injury, stroke, or neurologic disorders such as Parkinson's). We also collaborate with the Boys and Girls Club of the North Valley, The Brain Injury Coalition, The North Valley Community Foundation, and local hospice organizations. I am also in the role of Executive Director of The Music Therapy Impact Fund (MTIF). The MTIF is a grant program through the North Valley Community Foundation. We currently run a hospice music therapy program and a therapeutic choir for people with Parkinson's disease. We are in the process of developing a community-based creative/expressive arts therapy program for youth and adolescents who are dealing with suicidal ideation, social anxiety, and depression. At HMT and at MTIF we are interested in providing care wherever there is a need - locally, nationally, and internationally.
