Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
I have been a faculty member of the Department of Creative Arts, Faculty of Arts at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, since 2013, this following my status as a Graduate fellow within the same department. I have led a team of researchers to special people's homes, elderly people's homes using music as a tool to rejuvenate them and as a form of social supports for them. I am also involved in joint research that aimed to use the performance arts to cushion women in internally displaced camps and engaged in research that engages children living in the slum using the Arts. I am currently engaged in a collaborative research network titled "Building Sustainable Global Collaborative Research Networks" with about 17 people worldwide who participated in a virtual symposium that took place on February 7th, 2021. I was also a Co-Investigator in collaborative research with a grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC UK-RI), an urgency grant for COVID-19. A group of 4 people and I just got a Nagel Grant from the Nagel Institute of Calvin University (2021-2023). I was also part of Nigeria's committee to contribute to the University of Edinburgh, Scotland's project on the Global Ethics Toolkit. This research ethics toolkit would be helpful to people tackling global challenges research. I was a presenter during last year's World Alliance for Art Education Week in collaboration with UNESCO under the Creative Generation Initiatives. I take and teach music therapy as a course of study in my school and have learnt the dynamics of using it to solve life's issue.
