Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
I am a lifelong musician---playing flute and piccolo for many years and transitioning to the tenor recorder and native american flutes as tools utilized in my work as a therapeutic music practitioner. I am a CCM-CTM (Certified Clinical Musician/Certified Therapeutic Musician) certified through the Harp for Healing CMCP program, practicing for the past 5 years, specializing in hospice care....supporting patients and their families through therapeutic music. I've also worked in hospital settings and rehab or post-acute settings and with hospice patients I go to whereever they are, whether that is in a facility or at home. I have witnessed first hand the difference therapeutic music can make at end of life for both the patients and families. It can have a huge positive impact on those depressed and lonely, and those in pain whether that is mental, physical or spiritual.
Collaboration Interests:
My interest focus is on the impact of music on depression, and loneliness across all demographics and the positive impact therapeutic music can have on those dealing with mental and spiritual wounds......
As a woodwind player I'm interested in the impact of the particular sound of a wooden instrument and breath and question ...is the resonance of that more impactful, more healing than a string instrument......does vibrato speed and use have any impact on positive patient outcomes or the healing effect?
How much does the connection between patient and practioner change an outcome.....?
