John Beckl

John Beck has been facilitating HealthRHYTHMS drum circles in Pediatric Behavioral Health, cancer patient support, and senior memory care settings since 2013. The evidence-based HealthRHYTHMS protocol was adapted for a research study with stem cell transplant recipients in their hospital rooms at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center surveying Mood, Energy, Relaxation, Anxiety, Distress, and Pain, before and after 30 minutes of interactive group drumming. The study results are published in the International Association for Music & Medicine journal. He recently retired from full time studio percussion teaching to take on a new role at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as Coordinator for Arts & Health Partnerships.
