Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health: 
Katie Down, LCAT, MT-BC, MM, is a licensed creative arts therapist, music psychotherapist, Reiki and sound practitioner, and professor of music therapy and clinical coordinator at SUNY New Paltz. Katie is also a private practitioner with a specialty in trauma and she works with survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. She is certified in EMDR for trauma and PTSD and works with the Angel Band Project as regional coordinator, offering free music therapy services to survivors in New York. Katie's interest in health is long-standing and her work is based on the power of music and sound to relieve stress, bring joy, connect, and open ourselves to express, release, and deeply listen to ourselves and our world.
