Lauren Knatz

I am a hospice and eldercare musician in the Central PA region. My work with Music Evoked Autobiographical Memory in every day life is the first application of its kind implemented and facilitated outside of a clinical lab. My first book, The Gatekeeper chronicles my work using favorite music as a catalyst for life review for individuals and their family members navigating end of life conversations. I have presented my work to resident doctors, nurses and other health care professionals by demonstrating the critical role music plays in humanizing healthcare. I am presently studying to obtain licensure as a hearing healthcare practitioner to augment my efforts to improve quality of life for those impacted by untreated hearing loss by combining my work with music evoked autobiographical memory to combat auditory deprivation and cognitive decline within our elder population.
