As a music therapist working primarily with cancer patients and burn patients, I love seeing firsthand how music can be effective in the medical setting. Reducing stress, normalizing the hospital environment and providing a supportive environment for emotional expression and processing are all wonderful benefits of implementing music therapy in a medical setting. Additionally, pain management and introduction of life-long coping skills are seen when using music with folks in a medical population.
