Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
Hello, I've been developing a music/sound-based intervention for health effects, inspired by both research revealed mechanisms and intuitive knowledge. Currently, I'm focusing on a modality for Alzheimer's patients, through a 3-fold method of tapping into the care safety network, then inducing pleasurable musical chills and the emotion of awe. During testing we found a notable increase in the gamma frequency brainwave activities in EEG measurement. Connecting this to the finding from MIT Picower Institute's finding that 40Hz stimulation had an reduction effect on the tau protein pathology. We could like to explore whether our musical modality can contribute to the reduction of tau pathology in AD patients.
Collaboration Interests:
We would like to collaborate with both researchers and music creators:
On the research side, we are interested in not only the efficacy of the modality, but also the mechanism of how it works. We would like to collaborate on designing a pilot treatment series, potentially complemented with EEG measurement. If it's possible to have the before and after neuroimaging data to compare pathology change it would be ideal.
With music creators, would you be interested in co-creating sound experience within this context and see how it might have a measurable impact on health? Another aspect we can experiment on is spatial audio, for instance in a sound dome, as I have experience in immersive audio production and would like to explore whether this brings an additional benefits in the health context.
