Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
As a vocalist, I provide live therapeutic music at the bedside for patients, families, and staff in hospitals, private homes, nursing, long-term care, developmental and psychiatric facilities. Graduated MHTP 2018, Reiki practitioner, Certified End-of-Life Doula (2020). I've been singing in choirs and choral societies world-wide since I was a child, and sharing music was always my first love. Losing my job as a computer programmer after 25 years forced me to re-evaluate how to be of service to the community. While volunteering for Hospice I discovered therapeutic music and found my life's calling. The COVID pandemic gave rise to musical collaboration online, and I became a song-catcher and song-sharer. Many of these songs are appropriate for therapeutic music.
Collaboration Interests:
I'm one of several CMPs who collect research data at Concord, NH area hospitals, using the Likert scale to rate anxiety and depression levels before and after a music session. These studies are helpful in securing grants for continued therapeutic music. Having recently started at a psychiatric facility, I'm keeping a (HIPPA-compliant) log to note reactions among this population. Shortly I will also have opportunities at a hospice facility to take note of the effects of therapeutic music on patients, their families, and their care-givers. Music is a gift to those who receive it, but also to those who provide it. I am so honored to participate in this healing service.
