Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
Susan is a Certified Therapeutic Musician --Certified Clinical Musician (CTM-CCM) through the Harp for Healing program, as well as being a professional harpist with over 40 years of performance experience. She has over 46 hours of documented playing time offering therapeutic music in the service of health and wellbeing for patients and their loved ones in the palliative care departments at Ascension Seton, Dell Seton, Baylor Scott and White and the Austin Heart Hospital.
She is also a private instructor in harp and piano in her home studio and at Armstrong Community Music School of Austin.
Collaboration Interests:
I'd like to collaborate with doctors and nurses who are interested in alternative modalities within Palliative Care, Hospice, Integrative Medicine, Naturopathic Clinics, Wellness Clinics, Alternative Therapies, Surgical Clinics and Neonatal Intensive Care Units with the belief that therapeutic music, received passively by the patient, can assist as "medicine from another bottle" with regulating vital signs and possible pain relief.
