Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
I had a double hip operation when I was 10, which prevented me from competing in sports.Music from the time I was 12 was both my solace & passion. As active Blues & Jazz player as well as researcher/artist in residence, who had many legendary mentors, playing forward their history & legacies has been vitally important to me for the last 50 years.I prioritize student projects that have physical, emotional, mental, economic, environmental, special needs & other challenges. My programs have reached over 500,000 students across 5 continents. All my programs have always promoted integrated arts & use Blues & Jazz as entry portals into especially Black history & anti racism.
Collaboration Interests:
Throughout especially the last 40 years I've collaborated with such orgs. as State Arts Councils, VSA, NAACP, Ben & Jerry Foundation, numerous non profit Jazz, Blues & Roots music orgs. as well as Special Needs orgs.Civil & Human rights orgs., I'm interested in new collaborations (virtually & in person following Pandemic protocols.) Past collaborations have included working with many legendary musicians whenever possible.
