Short biography and a description of your interest(s) in music and health:
I am a postdoctoral research fellow, whose research explores the intersections between intersectional embodiment, well-being, and listening. In my research, I consider how experiences of trauma shape listening habits and sonic interpretation(s), where who we are and the relationship we have to our sociocultural, relational environments has a significant impact on the ways we listen. Current research explores medicalized sound and medicalized listening during the COVID-19 era, as well as how listening habits respond to experiences of diverse "patienthood" within chronic illness and disability communities, and how sonic encounters with mediated voices inform understandings of imagined embodiment and desires for (and at times, dread regarding) proximity during the pandemic era.
