Jeff is the Chief Operating Officer and a board certified music therapist at Institute for Therapy through the Arts. Jeff's robust experience focuses on designing and growing creative arts therapy programs for children, teens, and adults across multiple healthcare sectors. He is the Administrator of Musical Bridges to Memory, a music intervention research program in partnership with Northwestern University, that aims to improve the lives of individuals with Dementia and their caregivers. He lectures at local universities and has multiple publications with a focus on program development, assessment, and dementia. He has also worked for nearly two decades in early childhood and music program development. Jeff is a founding member (2004), administrator, and former director of Kids Town Child Development Center. Jeff’s holistic and neuroscience-based approach to service delivery encourages people to embrace their creativity, strengths, and drive their care through informed decisions, artistic interests, and relationship building. His advanced training includes a Masters in Music from Ohio University with a concentration in Music Therapy and Counseling, Neurologic Music Therapy, and the ARC model of trauma treatment. His work has positively impacted the lives of thousands of individuals across the past decade, including his passion to create access to music and health across Chicago Public Schools. Collaboration Interests:
I am dedicated to the advancement of music therapy through service, research, education, and advocacy work. The arts provide value to the health and well-being of individuals, groups, communities, and society at large. Creativity engages curiosity and play, neurological flexibility, plasticity, and an increased repertoire of solutions across our life span. I have dedicated time to the ethical practice and state advocacy for music therapy licensure to ensure public awareness of the impact of music intervention, the potential harm of music, and the current research evidence and need for further music research. Collaboration is critical in creating access to the arts. I am interested in establishing collaborative relationships in performance, program development, research initiatives, education, advocacy for music and health, and direct service.
